MERMAIDING – SIRENA ALICIA

Mermaiding is a combination of freediving, monofin swimming and underwater performance. More than a sport, it is a way of expression, which encourages creativity, fantasy and a passion for the underwater world. Mermaiding is an inclusive activity for people from all ages, genders and abilities. Using the techniques of apnea, mermaid performers wear colourful tails and feel the sensation of being a part of the ocean. As a physical exercise it builds core and leg muscles providing a cardio workout.

Nowadays the most world known diving associations have included mermaiding to their course and certification programs, while there are organized international conventions, festivals and workshops.

Aliki Kirkou Makropoulou (Sirena Alicia) is a mermaid performer, PADI Mermaid Instructor and Divemaster who has performed in glassbottom boats and submarines but also is giving classes in the sea for diving centers. She started her mermaid journey when she became a member of Thessaloniki Mermaid Academy fulfilling her childhood dream. Also she has participated in the performance Sirenes in Italy with one of the first mermaid performers, model and ocean activist, Hannah Mermaid.

In this workshop she will teach you basic breath holding techniques, monofin swimming, mermaid performing tricks and underwater modelling. After the workshop you will receive some stunning underwater photos and videos of your performance!
